Some believe that the characters from medieval history referred to as wizards or magicians were actually people who had mastered and advanced the high technology of the time in which they lived. Often combining the talents of several specialized professions, the artificer recognized the underlying principles that tied all of the expert crafts together - careful study, long practice, and a belief that quality materials and workmanship have no substitute.
